RUMA HISTORY

a tale of two highschool best friends

Ruma’s story began in 2011 as a creative collaboration between Saski and Meida — two high school best friends brought together by a shared love for beauty, craftsmanship, and everyday rituals. Despite the distance between the Netherlands and Indonesia, Ruma Manis, an Indonesian-based brand, was born, offering everyday dinnerware and crockery designed to celebrate those sweet, charming moments in daily life.

In 2023, Ruma was established by Meida Damayanti in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Today, Ruma focuses on thoughtfully curated dinner sets and sets of tableware for special occasions — pieces defined by craftsmanship, refined details, and an effortless sense of understated elegance. Each collection is created to elevate the table through meaningful tableware décor that feels timeless yet personal.

RUMA FOUNDER

Indonesian Heritage in Europe

Born and raised in Java, Indonesia, Meida grew up surrounded by rich cultural heritage, traditions, and a deep appreciation for handmade objects. These early influences continue to shape Ruma’s approach to design and craftsmanship.

Meida later spent half of her adult life in Amsterdam, building her career in fashion management. This dual perspective — heritage and modernity, tradition and contemporary living — is what brings Ruma to life.

Through Ruma, Indonesian influences are translated into refined dinnerware, expressive crockery, and elegant tableware décor, thoughtfully curated with a European sense of styling and everyday living.
